The Group at a Glance

 
  • Established in 1956 as “Salisbury Portland Cement” owned by Associated Portland and Cement Manufacturers Association of the United Kingdom

  • Registered on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange in 1980

  • Changed name to Circle Cement Limited in 1982 in line with change of holding company name to Blue Circle Industries Plc

  • Acquired in June 2001 as part of a global buyout of Blue Circle Industries by the Lafarge Group, a heavy building materials company headquartered in Paris-France. Lafarge became the world’s largest cement manufacturer after the Blue Circle acquisition

  • Changed name officially from Circle Cement Limited in January 2007 and subsequently appeared on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange as Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe Limited
